My fiance recently underwent a colonoscopy and the prior preparation required her to "clean out her system". Would flushing the body in this way be a healthy thing to do on a regular basis? She honestly lost nearly 9lbs in the ummm......flushing process.

No, it's not healthy. In your fiance's case, obviously there was a medical reason for doing this (to get a clear view of the walls of the colon), but for people who do it b/c they think it is healthy or 'cleansing' or 'detoxifying', it is just a bunch of b.s.
We 'clean' our colons each time we go to the bathroom. The human body does not need, and indeed can be damaged, by shoving hoses up there with water to 'clean' us.
I know people will say, "Oh, I felt so light and refreshed after!", but it is not good to rid the colon of the healthy bacteria. A good diet with plenty of fiber is all the 'cleansing' we need.

Your colon is not a toilet.
There are important bacteria that make normal digestion possible. Colon flushing is destroying ALL bacteria - the good that you need, with the bad. You are doing as much damage as you are cleaning your system.
Don't flush the colon. Eat healthy and stop putting garbage in your body.

As gross as it is often considered, you might want to consider enemas instead. If you do them properly and not too frequently, it can be good for your colon and your digestive tract below that point. The thing to consider is that she most likely lost water-weight, not actual fat. Whenever you stop eating for a day, or a bit longer, the first thing you lose is water in your system. As you no longer take in calories, your body will start to use the fat but your energy level drops significantly.

Your body may become dependent on artificial means instead of the natural process.
