Well, pine trees are evergreen (and actually most Christmas trees are spruce and fir)...thus the only trees that are nice looking and still green in every area of the world in the winter time. I suppose you could use an oak tree, but it would look pretty putrid.

The fir tree has a long association with Christianity, it began in Germany almost 1,000 years ago when St Boniface, who converted the German people to Christianity, was said to have come across a group of pagans worshipping an oak tree. In anger, St Boniface is said to have cut down the oak tree and to his amazement a young fir tree sprung up from the roots of the oak tree. St Boniface took this as a sign of the Christian faith. But it was not until the 16th century that fir trees were brought indoors at Christmas time

We use evergreen trees (some are pine, some are firs, some are other needle bearing trees). The evergreen tree has been associated with the idea of ever lastingness because it remains green all year, even once the mighty oak's leaves have fallen off. It's a symbol of eternity.

We consistently have a actual tree in my abode, this is custom. properly, we survive a great farm finished of evergreens so we decrease down our very own tree and whilst it's time to eliminate it we take it to a close-by pit or you're able to have somebody come get it and dipose of it for you. P.S. this is properly worth it to have a actual Christmas tree, the smell through the home is astonishing and it merely feels greater like Christmas =]
