This year, my family doesn't have a van, and we can't have a Christmas tree. I'm only 12, and I still really want a tree, but when I ask my dad, he says he is too buisy, and if you really wanted one, you should go pick it out, and strap it car. Have any of you had a Christmas - treeless Christmases? How was it like? What age were you? What are your opinions

Last year my Husband and I were in severe financial difficulty. We couldnt afford a proper Christmas dinner or presents and we didnt have any tree. My partner had lost his job and he had cancer (even though we didnt know at the time). So we didnt have anything basic to celebrate with.

The time that i spent with him was the most important thing - u dont need a christmas tree to celebrate christmas. Christmas and the love of giving and being with family comes before that. I learnt that from last year and this year once again we are not getting a Christmas Tree or gifts. We are now looking forward to a baby on the way who is due on the 27th of December. Thats all we need for Chrissy. Our bub ;)

I had a treeless Christmas last year and I am now 53 yrs old. It wasn't the same, but I just went for a long walk and looked at all the decorations that were up in the neighborhood and enjoyed being able to see them. Sorry it isn't working out for you and your hopes of a tree this year, but maybe you could get somebody that you know who drives to perhaps help you go get one, there is still time. Here's another idea, what about going and getting a small artifical tree to put where you can see it and decorate it? That way you WOULD have a tree, just not a big one in the living room or wherever. Merry Christmas, and I have a 6ft artificial tree I wish I could give to you to use this year,I am using a small fiber optic one instead.

Christmas isn't really about the tree, remember that. Maybe his reason is that he can't afford one, and he doesn't want to admit that. Christmas time is very expensive. Maybe you can ask him for a fake one instead. We always had a fake tree and every year it was easy to just pull it down from the attic and set it up. It was fun too. You can tell him it would help in the future too, when he doesn't have enough time to pick one up. If he decided to get a fake one, you can get it from Wal-mart or any department store.

Or

Just make a fake one. It doesn't have to be as big, just a small one. There are lots of sites that you can get some ideas from.

You don't need a tree. I had a real tree only once in my many years, too much work and not worth the effort in getting in and out of the house. Get your decorations out just the same and decorate everything you can, hang tinsel on your staircase, or the wall, decorate any tall plant you can, just try and get into the spirit. Right now may be a little depressing but in a few years you will look back and giggle. You are 12, I'm sure you can get creative. Merry Christmas

I never have a Christmas tree. I don't believe in killing trees for such a trivial purpose. My family usually had an artificial tree which would last for years, doesn't smell, and doesn't shed all over the carpet.

I have ALWAYS had a Christmas tree. Yopu can always get a fake tree, they come in a box and fit right into the trunk or backseat of your car :-) (I am 25 btw)
