A tourniquet cuts off blood supply. It can cause a limb to basically die from lack of blood. however, if aomeone gets a substantial wound, then cutting off the blood supply can keep them from bleeding to death.

Only those with experience should use tourniquets so they don't injure their subject by killing their limb and making it have to be amputated.

Only use if bleeding can't be stopped by applying direct pressure for a period of time. If the limb is bleeding that bad, its probably comming off anyways...
