When is a baby's teething pain the worst? When the tooth is under the gum and moving up or when it has just come through the gum or when it's already exposed? I should know this according to his fussines, but I'm just curious as to what other moms have experienced. Thanks!

Just as it's going to break the gum. You may not see it, but you can certainly feel it. I've tried everything and chamomile tea, the baby teething tablets, and this munchkin feeder thing with ice chips have been the things that work best.

I think it's painful when it's still under the gum and about to break out, then once it's somewhat out it's a little more bearable, but still painful. Try using,Humphries,go to your pharmasists counter and ask if they have baby humphries, they work great for teething babies. It says on the box to dilute it in water but if your baby already does the chewing movement and eats baby food then you can give your baby the two or three little pellets straight, they disolve quick and taste sweet, they're especially formulated for babies so dont worry if two or three seems like alot because it's not,but it's a better alternative to tylenol, and anbesol. hope this helps

For mine it was before you could see a tooth. She just got unbelievably fussy and would not quit. Freeze a wet wash cloth and let her chew. If there aren't any teeth yet, a cold carrot works. Just before bed time, put baby oragel on her gums, stuck in a pacifier, and watched her drift off to sleep.

I would say the worst time is just before the tooth breaks through the skin. Becauase once its through its easy going. Think about how it would feel to pull a splinter out of your skin. It hurts till its out poking through the skin right then, when you pull it out it doesnt hurt anymore.

Im not mother. I'm 15. But I do babysit. Something to consider is get him something rubbery to chew on. Or get, Baby Or-Gel. The baby Or-Gel numbs the pain.
