Well there is a first 100 day outline set then there is an overall agenda.

The overall agenda is to accomplish a few main goals as follows:
- Reform Healthcare
- Push Bush into actually changing the Iraqi strategy than just continually talking about it.
- Reverse Bush's tax cuts for the most wealthy in the country
- Conduct some investigations and hearings into some of the Bush admin's actions over the past 6 years.

There is a lot more but that is part of it.

I'm still completely baffled by what people say vs. how they voted on Nov. 8

The "new direction" is clearly illustrated by recent senatorial voting records. For instance:

When the bill came up to make English the official language of the United States - 34 senators voted AGAINST it.
32 Democrats 1 Republican and 1 Independent.

When the bill to give ILLEGAL immigrants Social Security benefits came up, 37 Democrats voted in favor of it!

Only God knows what else they've got up their sleeve now that they are the majority.

They have a pretty plotted out agenda for the first 100 hours. I'm cutting and pasting that here, from the source listed below.

"In the first 100 hours:

"We will start by cleaning up Congress, breaking the link between lobbyists and legislation and commit to pay-as-you-go, no new deficit spending.

"We will make our nation safer and we will begin by implementing the recommendations of the independent, bipartisan 9/11 Commission.

"We will make our economy fairer, and we will begin by raising the minimum wage. We will not pass a pay raise for Congress until there is an increase in the minimum wage.

"We will make health care more affordable for all Americans, and we will begin by fixing the Medicare prescription drug program, putting seniors first by negotiating lower drug prices. We will also promote stem cell research to offer real hope to the millions of American families who suffer from devastating diseases.

"We will broaden college opportunity, and we will begin by cutting interest rates for student loans in half.

"We will energize America by achieving energy independence, and we will begin by rolling back the multi-billion dollar subsidies for Big Oil.

"We will guarantee a dignified retirement, and we will begin by fighting any attempt to privatize Social Security.

"We will introduce this legislation on the first day of the new Congress, we will pass it within the first 100 legislative hours. This new direction represents the priorities of a unified Democratic Party. This is our pledge to the American people."

Sounds like good stuff to me. Too bad so many conservatives on this board know nothing about it, choosing to simply cast insults from a position of ignorance instead.

The want to take away from the big pharmaceutical companies' their sweetheart deal where the government doesn't have to negotiate for lower drug prices.
I think they are going to look at the bankruptcy laws that were passed by the Republican congress that favored the banks over consumers.
They are going to issue subpoenas to look at the meetings Dick Cheney held with the energy companies that once again, gave big business sweetheart deals.

Nothing. Collect a paycheck. With the wonderful leadership displayed by the current congress, there is nothing to fix, everything has already been resolved. What do you think the republicans have been doing the past six years, nothing?

- blame America
- raise taxes (to pay for more bloated gov't programs)
- confer with all so-called terrorists because their actions must be our fault
- work towards getting the US Constitution declared unconstitutional (it make it too hard to create an overbearing and intrusive government)
- legalize gay marriage (finally Hillary will be able to admit that she's a man)

Sadly, they don't have an agenda. All they know to talk about is Bush's errors with the Iraq war. They know how to critisize but hoav no plan to fix anything.
