How soon after their death would someones obituarie be made available on line?

my husband found out that a fellow worker passed away, we were not super close but would like to pay our respects to his family but I don't want to call his wife right now

I don't know but you might be able to check into the local newspaper online and see what you can find. Or look in a near by (larger city) newspaper and see if it is in there

Depends on how quickly they want him or her buried or if he took it upon himself to prepare in advance.
