your chances that you are pregnant are pretty good because you should have sex 14-16 days after your period if you are planning for a baby. now i don't want you to get your hopes up too high though because you may not be. my husband and i tried for 8 months to get pregnant with our first and always during the ovulation period. just wait about another 2 and see if you start your period. well i hope everything works out for you in your favor. good luck!!

I've studied midwifery for many years. The medical data is that the time between ovulation and menstruation is very set and regular-seems to be 14-15 days for every woman. But the time from menstruation to ovulation is quite variable, and depends on many things: regularity of periods, length of time between periods, stress levels, dietary and herbal considerations (for example, ginger can bring on a period a few days early, because it affects certain hormone levels).
So there isn't a good way to depend strictly on timing from the beginning of the last period.
A couple of good ways to tell if you are ovulating:
-vaginal mucous changes to clear, more copious, and "stringy", meaning if you put some between two fingers and pull the fingers apart, it will stretch between them. Non-ovulation times will have mucous that is thicker and sticky/tacky. There is a good biological reason for this. If you have released a fertile egg, your body wants to get pregnant. Stringiness of the mucous gives a better path for sperm to swim up.
-temperature will rise a tiny amount and stay that way. You can get a basal body temperature thermometer from a number of pregnancy oriented websites. You need to check your temp with it before you get up each morning and become active. The thermometer will measure small increments.
-you may feel something called "mittleschmertz" when you release an egg. It literally means "middle pain". It's like a short, sharp cramp that lasts only a few seconds usually, right where your ovaries would be-either lower left or lower right abdomen.
Remember, sperm survive 3-5 days, and the egg will stay vital for at least a few days as well, so you must become familiar with your ovulation timing by keeping a log of the above signs for at least a few months before you can reasonably know about when you might be in a fertile time for you and a partner.

There was a study that I saw on Discovery. They said that they found that women ovalate more than once a month. So, just keep doing it if you want a baby. The most important thing to remember is that it takes about 24 hours for the sperm to enter the egg, so take that into consideration.
