there are many reasons platelet counts can be down the 2 most common in pregnancy are ITP idiopathic thrombocytopenia vs early signs of a condition assoc. with PIH called hellp hemolosis elevated liver enzymes low platelets the second one is very serious. the first is most likely the cause and some will treat with steroids in pregnancy closer to delivery to stabilize cell membranes but most of the time this isn't diagnosed till delivery and routine labs..try not to worry and talk to your doctor just an FYI or PS platelets have to do with your bodies ability to form a clot. not aneimia or low RBC count that would interfer with your bodies ability to transport oxygen

platelets deal with your blood. i don't know for sure if it's with your red or white blood cells, but it's something to do with your blood cell count
