Clothes like everywhere in warm climate.
It's all year around 30 Degrees Celsius.
Jeans, T-Shirt (if you don't want to look like an idiot don't wear the red T-Shirt with the big star on front), Flip-Flops, Sneakers.
Ao Dai - yes, but only as a work uniform or if they "dress up" for a wedding or so - don't believe this sh..... the romantic days of the "Quiet American" are over - Vietnam is not so different to Western countries.....with the dress code!

It depends on the age group. People usually wear jeans and T-shirts since it is very hot. Shorts and short sleeved shirts are also common.

As for travelers: shorts, jeans, tshirts(not white, if u ride motorcycle , cuz it's dusty) as simple but trendy as u could
oh and flip flop or sandals
kids, at night long sleeve and pants or u might get mosquitoes bite
too hot for suits. You can always buy clothes there, cheaper and it suitable.
