Well, having a baby hurts, but when it is all over and all is well, the joy one attains from looking at the cute baby kills all the pain.

Only the contractions hurt. then when the baby comes out that hurts. Afterwards it does not hurt. The pain stops as soon as the baby is out. If you get pregnant best thing to do is go to a natural child birth class. Even though you might get an epidural it will help you get though the begenning of the labor and hlep you understand what is going on with your body.

I have two children it hurts but it's bearable, and it's worth the pain. both my kids had 13 inch heads, and i went through 13 1/2 hours of labor with my first child, who was 6 lbs 13 oz. and had back labor the whole time, my second one i was so nervous that it would be the same but it wasn't. my second labor was only7 1/2 hours and had no back labor she was only 7lbs 2 oz Also on both labor i pushed 10 times or less(about 10-150 minutes). every person is different, they also have epidurals which num you from the hips down. and they also have mild pain relievers called: nubaine and staydol, those two only take the edge off the contractions. nubaine works the best of the two.(I think) forget the pain it goes away and then you have this beautiful baby and you really forget how bad it did hurt.

For most women, having a baby is painful. I have had five children, all grown now. I had to be put to sleep with my first child because of complications. I had what was called a "Twillight" for the next and was droggy and asleep during most of the birth. I didn't like the effects of being put to sleep or having the "Twillight", and I was afraid of having a spinal tap so I had my next three children natural (without any pain medication). I, personally, feel like the babies I had by natural birth were more alert and did better during their first days than my first two. These days, however, there are several alternatives to stop the pain. The most popular is to have a spinal tap and I feel that this technique has improved since the time I had my children. A spinal tap allows you to be awake during the birth but not feel the pain. Most moms who decide to have natural child birth will agree, though, that the experience of natural child birth is worth it and the pain is forgotten as soon as you hold your new born baby.

LOL! I was scared the first time too, after watching the movies and the baby stories on TV. With my first daughter I was induced since she didn't want to come out on her own. The contractions weren't much until the doctor broke my water. Then they got a little harder and I asked for the epidural. After that was in I didn't really feel any pain, just pressure. The worst part of that delivery was afterwards and my stitches from where I tore. With my second pregnancy it was a little different. I was showering to get ready for my induction when I went into labor. They were hard contractions that were uncomfortable. I left and went to the hospital. On the 30 minute ride there I was dancing and snapping my fingers with every contraction to try and distract myself because they had started to hurt. By the time we got there and I stood up out of the car I was hurting. I hurried up to L&D. I told the lady at the counter that I was there for an induction but that I thought I was in labor. I guess because I acted so calm she didn't think I was and told me to have a seat. A nurse came over and told me that all the hospital beds were full so I would have to wait in the waiting room. I told her that my contractions were three minutes apart and she took me back to put me on the monitor. I had to stop midway there for a contraction and bent over in pain. She realized and decided to do a pelvic exam instead. When she did she found that I had gone from 3 cm at my doctors office the day before to 7 cm. She took me into triage and said they were going to find me a bed. In the meantime another nurse asked me all the medical history questions they have to ask and worked on getting an IV. The contractions were really hurting by then and I was rolling back and forth in pain. She finally got my IV in and asked if I was wanting an epidural. Then she checked me and said I was fully dilated. I asked if I could still get something for pain and she informed me that if I did the baby would come out not breathing. All of a sudden I felt like I needed to push and when I did my water broke. That brought on a contraction that hurt worse then anything I have ever felt in my life. I was still in triage but I screamed. It was intense pain. I rolled onto my side and tried to put my mind somewhere else. I was like that for about 10 minutes before they told me I had to push because the baby's heartrate was dropping. The pushing helped with the pain but then I could feel myself tearing and stretching down there. Once she was born it was all worth it but it also hurt to get the stitches. Again it was awful when I peed for a few days because of the tear. If there is pain it is all worth it, don't worry. And you just have to think, it won't last forever, you will survive it and you will come out with a beautiful baby. I know I want more children even after all that pain. GOODLUCK!

Oh goodness yes having a baby hurts. I have never seen a women going through labor in real life or on those TLC shows that is just smiling and laughing the whole way through labor and delivery. IT is a very painful thing but in the end is very rewarding.

I had my first child natural without so much as a Tylenol. It hurts like you wouldn't believe. The next 2 I had an epidural and I didn't feel a thing. I would highly recommend the epidural for labor! It is like the difference in having a tooth drilled with Novacaine or without!!!!

Yes it does hurt. The contractions are what actually hurt. There are medications that they give you but sometimes they don't work. I myself had my daughter naturally and yes it hurts! After that last push and the baby is out you will be very relieved trust me.

having a baby sucks the contractions hurt and the only relief is the pushing
then u get to hold the baby and basically all the pain goes away

but then more pain weeks later because of episiotomies and pooping not a fun combo
