It's hard to define Utopia, because it is very different from one person to another. However, there are traditional elements associated with Utopia, things like: no crime, complete equality and peace without explotation. This seems improbable if not impossible. I don't believe that humans will ever achieve this unless everybody can accept "Do no harm to others if it can be avoided." People just aren't creative about avoiding it. Some would say you can't sometimes, but usually you can. A positive outlook on life is a good start.

In relation to the world today, a utopia would be impossible on a large scale because of the extreme variations in opinions and personal veiws of a perfect world.
On a small scale, communes may have had the goal of utopia during construction, but I don't know much about communes. Although I have heard many being related to cult activity. Doesn't mean they all are and maybe they are successful in acheiving an ideal 'world' for its members?

I believe that Utopia is a state of mind because only our soul can experience it. I mean, we all know that there is know that there is no place on earth that is perfect -- there's war and judgment everywhere we turn whether it be about religion or the color of your skin.

It really is not possible for we are humans and we have competitive impulses. This causes people to want to excel and while thats perfectly fine it mean someone must be last or the loser and in an Utopian society that cannot be. Everyone in a perfect society must be equal and thats too boring for us to live with for very long.

Greed, I want more than some one else.
Lazy, let some one else do it.
Just plain mean. I do not want them to be happy.
Super man, I am better than they are.
Uppity, I do not like them to do/have/be/act/etc. that way.
Or it is not written in the Book.
Utopia, great idea, very unlikely.
In order to get there for this many people one must become as we are, but once here we are unable to give up the concept of Mine.
