I did the same thing the day I bought a car.
I went to wally world to get a spare key made.
When I went back to my car, I put everything in my car first (including my master keys) and then tested the key that Wal-Mart didn't cut right.
Had to pay $40 to have a locksmith unlock me.
You could try the coat hanger method, but if your time is valuable, and you get impatient easily (like me) call and pay the 20-50 bucks to get it unlocked professionally.
Sometimes the police can help if they are not busy, but they do it less often anymore because locksmiths complained they were "stealing" their business. At least around here.

call the police and they will come out and unlock it for free but make sure you have proof of ownership with you or in your car.. as for the coat hanger yes it can be done it just takes some time. here is what you should do....
--Besides picking the lock, one can open a car door with a wire coat hanger. Open the coat hanger by unbending the wire, leaving a small loop at one end. Insert the looped end of the wire hanger between the rubber weather stripping and a side window. Hook the looped end of the wire around the button of the door lock and pull it up to the open position. Many lock buttons are without a lip, an anti-theft measure, so that the wire coat hanger slides off without lifting it. One can also try to snag the door handle and pull it open.
The Slim Jim, a thin strip of metal with a notch cut at the bottom side, slides down the passenger window into the door. The notch tries to catch a rod running inside the door that connects the lock and the lock buttons. Pulling on this rod pops the lock into the open position. Many modern cars have the rod shielded from this access. Most cars today have many wires running through the doors to control such things as power windows, power locks, heated side view mirrors, lighted key ways, and burglar alarms. Some newer cars have airbags in the doors - setting them off is a very dangerous and expensive mistake! The Slim Jim can snag one of these, or a mechanical part and cause damage. Most locksmiths advise against using a Slim Jim except on old cars. The pros often use wedges, lights and manuals of parts locations to avoid damage and increase their success rate...
I HOPE THIS HELPS!!! HAVE A GOOD HOLIDAY

You can take some wood wedges and pry the top of the door out (by hand) and stick the wedges in between the door and the roof. You should then be able to take a hanger and unlock the door. This is the way most places will do it.

this will not damage the windows or your car or your screwdriver so if the car has no alarm system you can take a screw driver, have someone place their hands on the glass trying to slide it down as your hand should grip to the glass, then take a screwdriver and pry the glass down it should give in easy since it has no power windows then you can retrieve you keys or pull up the lock but do not do this if your car has an alarm system as it will start making the annoying anti theft sound you can still do it if you wish and can always disable the alarm after

You need to understand the definition of entrapment. Entrapment is when you put pressure on someone to commit a crime they would not have done without that pressure. Simply leaving the car running with the door open does not pressure someone to do the crime, it simply give them the opportunity. Without the pressure, it is not entrapment and there is no defense.

If the convertible top is down, you'd better get those doors unlocked before it rains!
If you have an auto club membership, they'll come out for this type of incident.
If you're not, you can still pay for someone to come out and slim-jim it open.

If you can't get the lock with a coat hangar, try for the window crank.
