The Bible. I'm 53 and still haven't completed reading it. So far I have discovered it contains a good program for living.

I like John Grisham. He writes really well and his books flow. The plot is not bad either.
Mystery or Historical novels are more in my forte. Put a mystery into a historical period with accurate references. Nothing worse than having a novel stating that JS Bach is conducting a cantata in the middle of the 1800s, for example.

Fantasy, Sci-Fi, or a Mystery novel. Those are the more interesting ones, then again there are those people who would rather just watch a movie.
I love Stephen King.

Possibly the pamphlets, depending on the issues addressed. Or the mystery novel.

Historical (the real thing, not some "romantic" fluff written by someone named Buffy) or some really interesting and unusual Sci-fi.
