Actually, taking Castor Oil can cause the Baby to sh*t in the womb sac and get it in his mouth and then when the doctor takes the baby and makes it breathe, it inhales these feces into its lungs. Castor Oil may cross the placenta and exert a cathartic effect on the infant leading to meconium staining and possible "meconium aspiration" during childbirth. Castor Oil may also cause precipitous labor in some patients when used for induction. There is also a case report of a woman who suffered cardiopulmonary arrest secondary to an amniotic fluid embolism associated with castor oil ingestion for the induction of labor. While castor oil is effective in promoting the onset of labor, its safety is questionable, and its use is not recommended.

I am also 39 weeks and I took castor oil with orange juice last night. And if put me into false labor. And the side effects that everyone tells you about is not that bad. It doesnt hurt like a stomach virus would. You just have to use the bath room more. I am doing it again tonight and hope fully it will get things going for me because I am def. ready for my little girl. I also had my membranes stripped again today. In about an hour I am going to take 3 oz of castor oil with 6 oz of orange juice and drink it through a STRAW it helps. Well hopfully I will be in labor tonight. I was in labor last night It was so painful but by morning it stopped so I am going to do it again. If you do it good luck I hope you get it started. How many cm dilated are you and effaced do you know?

I've heard that taking castor oil can cause stress in the baby. A completely safe and natural way is nipple stimulation every couple of hours. This causes your body to release a flood of hormones that induces labor. A breast pump used for 10 -15 minutes every few hours should work well. Good luck!

Yes, I think so. I've heard some bad things that can happen if you induce your labor with castor oil.
Also, it's usually a good idea to let nature takes its course. Babies DO NOT like to be forced out. So many inductions end up in c-section ( more time to heal, excruciating pain and sadness over missing a vaginal birth)

I don't think it is safe to take castor oil with orange juice or herbs or anything else to induce labor. When your baby gets ready, he will meet the world with a loud cry! Don't take any chances of harming that precious baby.

To be honest no.. My older sister did it at 37 weeks along and her dr is the one that told her it was ok to do it.. You only have one week till you are due.. The baby is big enough to survie.. If the baby comes on its own at 37 weeks, what would be the differnce to take castor oil with orange juice.. I wanted to do that with my thrid but I could not find castor oil anywhere's so the dr's induced me anyway's...

Well, it can help you have some great diarrhea if that's how you want to kick off your labor.
As for "i can help" she just said that she did it and had an entire night of horrible, nonproductive contractions. Doesn't sound helpful at all, and I can't believe she's planning it again. What if those horrible contractions, before your body is ready for labor, caused uterine rupture?
More people have their babies AFTER their due date than on or before. That's because due dates are an approximation of when your baby is ready. It's not ready now.

the reason Castor oil works as it causes excessive diarrhea and leads to dehydration that causes the uterus to contract.. down side of all this is that it leads to decreased blood flow to baby and distress to baby and passage of meconium stool baby''s first poop in the amniotic fluid that has the consistency of molasses and if baby takes his first breath and his lungs fill with this it can lead to meconium aspiration and baby can get really sick and even die.If your cervix is soft and your body is ready for labor try sex the sperm contains prostaglandins that soften the cervix and cause some uterine contractions your orgasm causes contractions. Also talk to your OB about being induced.. good luck on your birth, may it be filled with joy..PS the reason the woman who took it had false labor is because she wasn't in labor only dehydrated herself and baby and once rehydrated contractions go away

NO do NOT take castor oil and orange juice, ask your doctor these questions, if you wouldn't ask your doctor if this would be safe then why chance it. try walking and also try nipple stimulation. the whole having sex thing is a myth i tried that so many times and never did it work what helped for me is walking I did a ton of walking. WHATEVER ANYONE TELLS YOU DON'T TAKE CASTOR OIL IT COULD BE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO THE BABY.

No,I feel every body is just a little extra convinced while the rough it out and cross until the tip.I was once pregnant for nearly forty three weeks and had a three day exertions,I was once so convinced with my self for going via some of the method evidently. It ended up being a c-phase when you consider that my cervix was once too swollen from the nonstop contractions it might no longer dilate beyond nine cm.But now I have one hell of a tale to inform.
