It is called a cation. A good mnemonic to remember is CARRIAGE, where C is cation, and R is reduction (losing electrons). Another mnemonic is AUTOMOBILE, where A is anion, and O is oxidation (gaining electrons). You'll have to know the difference between oxidation and reduction later on in chemistry, particularly for redox reactions.
