I've been married to my husband for 12 years and never changed my last name. It never bothered him. You have to realize that some women don't want to and that's their right. If we decide to take our husbands last name we need to change our drivers license, social security card. Go to payroll at work and change the name. If a woman has any kind of degree that also has to get changed. A lot of hassle just to change a name. If the tables were reversed would you change your last name?

I wouldn't say that it upsets me, but they should think of the children. A household should share a last name, that is part of being a family. When I grew up, I had a different last name from my mother, and it sucked. I myself kept my ex-husbands name just for that reason.

No, it does not upset me. I believe that you should be able to choose the name that you wish to be called. Especially when the man you marry has the last name of Le Don Pierre.

A woman has a right to call herself whatever she wants.

That being said though, I feel that when there are children involved, it shows a lack of respect to the father/family if she retains her maiden name for all purposes. (at least use his name socially)
