They will have a good year as always. But I think Boston wins the division.

Brian Cashman has made some very impressive moves this off season for both the short term and long term outlook of the NYY.
Look at this line-up:
Damon
Jeter
Abreu
A-Rod
Giambi
Matsui
Cano
Posada
Phelps/Phillips/A.n.Other
That is a fearsome line up should everyone stay healthy.
The rotation as it stands is:
Wang
Mussina
Pettitte
Johnson
Igawa
This doesn't include Pavano who is the current market must have some trade value.
In the pen you'll have:
Proctor
Bruney
Farnsworth
Myers
Pavano
Rivera
And with a deal for lefty Mike Gonzalez looking highly possible then that's another premier arm for the 'pen.
The Yanks look like a beast but of course it's all about health and hitting form at the right time.

No. Pettite had a 4.50 era in the NL last year. What does that translate to in the AL East? Higher than 4.50. Yes, his 2nd half was better, fine, but still wasn't exactly stellar. I think the Red Sox have it this year if Varitek doesn't get injured (couldn't find the stat, but their ERA went through the roof starting the game after he got injured.)

I think so. Everything they have done has been positive. Getting rid of Sheffield, signing Pettite and Igawa. There's a couple of things left to do, like a backup catcher and deciding on what to do with Pavano and Bernie and they should be kings of the east again. It'll be a tough year with the Boston and Toronto pickups but to be the best you have to beat the best.

They will have a decent regular season...either on top of the division or the Wild Card.
However, as they have every year in since the new millenium (2001), they will choke in the post season.

purple Sox had extra suitable pitching and powerful protection. If the starter performed properly interior the interest, purple Sox depended on the bullpen to win the interest lots of the time. they had stable protection than Yankees did. purple Sox became no one million team in era and in basic terms team interior the ML under 3.0. i think of in basic terms component Yankees extra suitable than purple Sox became offense. Pitching became the project because of the fact of injuries.
