Vehicle is a 91 S10 Blazer with a 4.3L V6. When i changed the old filter it looked like the excess fuel in the filter looked blackened. During the test drive, the vehicle regained some power, but later had a dead spot again. Could i dissconect the ignition coil, and crank the engine over to flush the fuel out of the line into a plastic milk bottle?

yes you can but the black part isn't in the fuel line. it is in the fuel tank. You need not crank the motor to run the fuel thru the line, just set it up as you proposed, even put a fuel ine of the proper size to fit tightly over the line, and just turn on the key;.. ur fuel pump is electric and has a pressure sensor. the system turns off when it reaches 30 psi. so if u don't put the system together it will not build the pressure. but be prepared as the 1 gal jug will fill up in about 10 sec. so have an astute helper when u do this. the flat spot is probably a dirty injector. put some b 12 chemtool in the tank after u get it cleaned.. if u do all of this and the flat spot is still there check the fuel pressure, as the injectors have to have 30 psi or it will not run correctly. good luck

have never flushed a fuel line while changing a fuel filter. most filters that you change will gravity feed fuel anyway after you take the fuel filter off.

Something you might do in case you thunk you have contaminated fuel is to put a bowl with a coffee filter under the fuel line and let some fuel drain through. if there's contaminated fuel it will show up in the fuel filter.

something else to note is you need to open the fuel cap to depressurize the fuel system before taking off the filter or you'll get a face full of gas.

please be extremely careful in doing that If you were to get a spark while doing that It would cause a significant problem [how about not doing that] FIRE!!!!! Do you have throttle body? If so try cleaning it internally with a good throttle body cleaner. You can also run injector cleaner in fuel tank. Lucas makes a really good one.But there are others. Is the fuel pump up to snuff?Maybe a sensor is screwen with ya.Think it through, good luck.

Change the filter again, and get a sample of fuel to see if there is something else in there besides fuel.

You could do that but it wouldnt serve any purpose.
Ya might wanna check the tank for moisture or use a higher grade gas for a tank or two.
