I don't know why, but I am not one of those shopping kind of women. I hate to shop!
Maybe it's a thing of comfort for her.

Rash generalisation to follow... Evolutionary biology.
Men are hunters. When it comes to buying something, men go out, find it, kill it and bring it home. For men, shopping is done with a specific goal, and executed in the most efficient way possible.
Women are gatherers. For them, shopping is an expedition - women browse, the wander, they compare. It doesn't have a specific point or objective, and can take place in an unstructured way over several hours.

Shopping is the best stress relief for us women. We just forget ourselves in it. I do not know about evolution, but shopping is fun. Women tend to observe more than men, they are more sensitive hence I guess we cannot stop looking at shiny and pretty things, it just catches our eyes no matter how hard we try not to look at it.

Not all women like to shop. I hate it and would rather do anything than go shopping. I hate malls. Nothing is more physically draining to me than shopping. I only go when I absolutely have to and I get what I need and leave. Grocery shopping is the worst.

It's like, in most of us females to LOVE shopping. Not just clothes or pretty/shiny things. It could be anything that we like. But it's not just women...there's some men who def. enjoy buying ALOT of the finer things in life...

It's just in the nature of the female to "gather" things. Observe the animal kingdom. It's the female who goes out and brings back feathers, string, rags...whatever catches her eye, to enhance her "nest". It's not a greediness in her, she simply can't ignore her need to make things "better". That's what women do. How many times has she come home with a new hoozeewhatzit, put it in it's new place and turned and asked you "Now, isn't that better?"

It makes us feel good knowing we can look at- sometimes buying expensive stuff. A lot a people believe that it is what you own that defines who you are so when you shop you are buying. Or sometimes it's just imagining all the things you could have and how your life could be different.

My husband is always looking at cars and trucks parked anywere that are for sale. Always thinking about the next time he gets one. Same with tools. The things we like or desire to have attract us. Someone who is computer savy may always be thinking about an upgrade of some sort or the newest or better gadget.

I feel that if a person is obsessed with anything (food, shopping, sex) they are lacking something in there life. You should sit down with her and ask her what she wants out of your marriage besides material things I am sure you will be surprise what how she answers.

She can look all she wants. Don't buy her a damn thing though, unless she's out there earning the big bucks (not just some "work" like a marginal child care or secretarial position).
