No, No, No!

Vaseline is petroleum jelly, which is not water-soluble. When you put it on your hands and try to wash it away with water, it doesn't budge. It just sort of moves around, but it doesn't dissolve. That's why it increases the chances of getting a vaginal or anal infection when used during vaginal and anal sex, since bacteria don't easily wash away. Also, when petroleum jelly is used with condoms, it eats away at the rubber (latex), decreasing the effectiveness of condoms. (Instead, use petroleum jelly to moisturize very dry skin.)

Water-soluble lubes (and never oil-based ones), are the things to use. With their silicone-like fluidity, they create more pleasure, too! I would recommend KY-Jelly... Good Luck

First thing, are you positioning yourself correctly before you do it?
Make sure you've got your foot up on something or you're slightly squatted. Then, relax! It could just be that your muscles are tensed up, which makes it very difficult and sometimes painful to use a tampon.
You said it yourself, you need a -lubricant-. Vaseline isn't really a lubricant, so I would suggest looking for brands that DO focus on being a lubricant, and a water-based one at that. KY is a good, popular choice, but you can find a lot of other kinds, usually near the condom section of stores.

It should be fine but I probably wouldn't recommend it. If you want to use something use KY personal lubricant. I recommend using a plastic applicator with a low absorption for the first time; the plastic applicator's make it glide better and the lower absorption tampons will be smaller and easier to insert. You won't even need lubricant. And never use a tampon when you don't have your period, even if it's just to try! Also, this may not apply but, Vaseline will lower the effectiveness of condoms. You shouldn't have sex for 2-3 days after using it for this purpose.

You shouldn't need to use any sort of lubrication in order to insert a tampon. Coating it with something would prevent any absorption of fluid and thus defeat the purpose of the tampon. I would suggest a couple of other things that might help this situation: (1) try using a lower absorbancy; sometimes if there's too much absorption, it can be hard to insert or remove tampons. (2) try non-applicator tampons (like o.b., for example)...I found that standard applicators were personally too clumsy to use. It might also be a "technique" thing. It's easiest to insert any sort of tampon if you're sitting with your legs wide apart (on the toilet, for instance), and it should be directed up and slightly back, towards the center of your body (the vagina is angled in this way).

Everyone's babbling about vaseline being bad internally but what the real reason for not using vaseline for sex or internally, is that it breaks down condoms and hense the "don't use as a personal lubricant". A nurse on here told you it should be fine, but you should still ask your doctor or go to a local clinic.

Vaseline can give you a nasty yeast infection. So can baby oil, and other oils. A water based personal lubricant is the better bet. You can usually pick some up at the drug store, by the condoms.

Apart from it stopping the tampon absorbing the blood, Vaseline should not be used internally

I would go with lubrication because vaseline stays there and if you have sex it would get pushed deeper. Thats why they say no vaseline as lube for sex
