Jimmy Carter was president from 1977-1980
And yes there was another period where the Dems controlled the White House and Congress.
1992-1994 During the Clinton Adminstration

Not since Carter, which is now over 25 years ago! It looks like there's a good chance of it happening again if the dems can get a cohesive platform together by '08. Better to have bilateral control, however, where the parties work together. It ensures the system of checks and balances better. You've seen what tends to happen over the last few years without it.

I remember well. Carter about destroyed us working people, and the nation.
Interest rates: around 17%.
Inflation: around 21%.
He tried to do away with our military, and make us a helpless nation.
He was just a freaky Democrat, but he wasn't mean while president.
Ever since he was defeated by Reagan, he has hated the USA with a passion, like many Democrats.
YES, IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN IN 2008!!!!!!!
And the working people will suffer again.
Democrats want our paychecks.

Yes, and I am hoping we will again.
I would really like to be able to earn 15% - 18% on T-Bills again. It was a wonderful time if you had money to invest and it will be again, safe government backed investments at a very high interest rate. And I don't care if other people have to pay $12% - 14% for their mortgages, I already have a house. Carter was great for the rich!

Well, I have researched those years and let me tell you, it wasn't pretty. Gas was 1.60 to 1.75 at the pumps, and you were rationed. People were getting shot at the pump. Interest rates peaked at around 20-22%.
Not a good plan. But Jimmy Carter was a big part of the problem.
