Because we are a nation of individuals. We believe in capitalism on a personal level, not an international one. Why do you think so many Americans want us to pull out of the United Nations?
Same reason.
What has the world done for us except spite us? It seems that the USA is always doing for the world...

And add:
The Declaration of Independence.
The Revolutionary War.

It's bad enough we are still part of the UN and that the creation of Federal Reserve has destroyed a once prosperous nation.

Why would we want to? We fought to be totally independent of the British Crown.
