Big problem!
Buy yourself something incredibly expensive on his credit card. Then thank him profusely for the gift and tell him how much you love it and him for thinking of you on your birthday.

I don't have a hubby anymore (deceased), but I do have a boyfriend and I get around this issue by making comments a day or two ahead. He doesn't take "hints" so I'm not "subtle". I just say "My birthday is Friday. Are we going to go out or anything?". He's so good about doing little things for me all the time "just because" that if he did forget my birthday, I'd shrug it off.

people are saying it's not a big deal but it really hurts. like for example, right now my wife and I are in total financial misery, and I would never forget her birthday, but because I had to come to argentina to be with her and I am not eligible to work, I didn't have two cents to buy her anything... she's kind of used to living a little better than she does now that she's chosen to be with me (with her parents' money) and though she really tried not to let it bother her that I couldn't buy her anything this year (at least not on time, I asked my dad in the U.S. for some money to buy her something but he didn't get it to me on time) but she couldn't help feeling sad. He screwed up forgetting your birthday. But it doesn't mean he doesn't love you, tell him that really hurts and that he needs to remember, don't treat it like a joke if it hurts you.. he'll be more likely to remember if you take it seriously than if you jokingly remind him or whatever. But do try not to be too hard on him... every year goes faster, after 8 years together sometimes dates go by without your noticing.

Men are hopeless at stuff like that. Don't be too offended. Unfortunately women are far better at remembering birthdays than men, and find it impossible to understand how a man can be so insensitive as to forget, when in fact, he just forgot - there was no malice or insensitivity there.
It's not that he doesn't love you. He's just a man! Let him make it up to you (and that part he should have no excuses about).

The best advice I can give you as a man that has forgotten birthdays, make sure you remind him a hundred times if that is what it takes. don't wait to see if he can remember on his own

Joke around and give him a hard time about it. Hopefully, he'll remember next time. It's not such a big deal.
