If you're sure she's full and not hungry, not wet or poopy and does not have a fever or colic, then try a pacifier. Make sure you have the correct size. Sometimes babies want the size larger than "specified" on the package. Shape makes a difference, too, as does texture. Keep trying other sizes, shapes and textures. But not TO big. Just keep trying. He'll get there. Of all my children, only with one did he NOT use the pacifier. My mother convinced me it was wrong. That is my ONLY thumb-sucker! It took until he was 8 years old to get him to stop sucking his thumb! He's the only one who will need braces. USE A PACIFIER!

My first born would not take a pacifier but turned to his thumb. Some children never take anything, unfortunately. I work in a Day care with 9-24 month olds and there are many who have never taken a pacifier or anything. Try soothing music or a blankie to hold onto. Each child is different, you'll soon find what works for your child!

are you breast or bottle feeding...cause i know that sometimes the baby will use your breast as a pacifier when they are done feeding. But really her not sucking on the pacifier isnt such a bad idea..she may be going through a growth spurt as well and it may seem that she's still hungry if she's breast feeding..maybe you can supplement with the bottle as well. pacifiers can be hard to break after a while.....best wishes and congrats !! I have an 8 week old too.

There technically is no way to teach her. All you can do is try to give it to her. My so acted the same way, and occasionally i would dip it in something sweet, but nothing that would harm him and then he would take it. That is actually the way that we got him to take a pacifier. Good Luck i hope everything works out for you. I know how hard a fussy baby can be! :)

If she doesn't want it by now, chances are she is just not a pacifier type of girl. :) My daughter became very dependent on it, so maybe it's a good thing. I keep hearing more and more that they are finding the pacifier is another great way to keep SIDS at bay, so if she does want it that would be a good reason to keep it.

Just keep trying, but some babies never take to a pacifier--only the real thing will do. Just be sure nothing else is wrong with her. Maybe she really is hungry. Breastfed babies need to eat every 2-3 hours--more if they're in a growth spurt. Formula-fed babies eat every 3-4 hours (formula is harder to digest)--more in a growth spurt.

This is a hard one. Although I am all for binkys for babies maybe she just isn't a binky baby. Try giving her her thumb...I know I will get tons of thumbs downs for that one but honestly sometimes that is the only thing that will sooth a baby. They don't always realize it is there though. Good luck in whatever you do and I hope you work the fussy girl thing out.

None of my kids have used a pacifier and I am glad. I have heard they are a nightmare to break them from. If she is fussy she could have colic but I would take her to the doctor. You could try rocking her to sleep.

Some babies don't take pacifiers. My baby never took the pacifier. Look at it as a good thing you won't have to break her away from it.

DON'T teach her to suck one. I recently got my 2 1/2 YEAR old son off his pacifier and it was absolutely hellish (picture a heroin addict on his second day of withdrawal, lol). Seriously, she'll find her fingers/fists and suck on those if she truly wants to suck.
