because they have never really listend to it. and they dont realize tht country music has evolved. dont forget that when they thing country, most likely they think of blue grass, which i as a country music fan hate.
i will give you an example of some one nevere realy listening to country music. my cousin in her whole life has only herd one entire country sound. the song was "dont take the girl" and from that for most of her life she has though country was depressive, suacidal music (she was 7 when she hurd it so was unable to correctly process the song) i opon learning of her ignorant views played sevreal good song which made her feel stupid. now she knows better.

I hate country music because it celebrates a culture that I similarly hate. Drawling christians wearing jeans two sizes too tight and a hat that's too big to fit in their truck munching on fried chicken and line dancing while they pour derision on ethnic peoples and homosexuals and systematically deny that America could ever make a mistake in foreign policy- these people ARE country music, and they are proud of it.
I am a classically trained musician, an overt atheist, and a libertarian. When I hear country music I know that am certain to find a virtual font of ignorance behind the stereo speakers. I hate country music like I hate christian music- excepting of course that not all christian music is bad music, it just carries a bad message.
I hate the culture of Redneck America- I hate their speech, their religion, their food, their dancing, their clothing, and certainly...
I strongly dislike country music.

i don't know why other people strongly dislike country music but i can tell u why i don't like it, there is a cord that is played in most country music and some other music that just grates on my nerves, i had a friend of myn find it on the guitar once can't remember which cord it was but it made me instantly mad. some of the newer country music is'nt bad, but i heard a joke once about country music, and i still remember it. do u know what u get when u play a country music record backwards? you get ur wife back u get ur dog back, u get ur house back. hehaw, get it?

It's the simple and straightforward lyrics that sound like crooning over simple things in life. It's almost insulting to someone who doesn't understand that style of music.
The new country out there is far more pop than country and I hardly think it qualifies as the real thing.
I don't like country music but I can appreciate what it is.

Any number of reasons.
Some people (maybe from the North) just don't identify with that whole culture at all.
Some people prefer music (like classical or movie music) that has a huge range of notes and a lot of complicated movements and that is either beautiful, elegant, and/or powerful.
Some people may find Broadway tunes kind of nice; but, again, they usually have a fairly complicated set of notes. They often have inspiring or beautiful words or else they're uplifting.
Some people may like popular music of one kind or another. There are people (like me) who look for the popular music that has some of the characteristics I mentioned above.
In other words, some people just prefer beauty or elegance or power in music.
Then, too, people may like the occasional whimsical song, such as any of the Muppet songs or some catchy tune from an animated film.
There are people who like "heavy duty" jazz and people who kind of like what they think is only the finest in jazz music.
I happen to see all of the above types of music as music that is for everybody. Then there are the "cultural" music types - Irish music, Japanese music, African music, and (I include this) country music.
I see country music as a small music niche (regardless of how many CD's get sold; that's not my method of measuring) that will appeal to a small group of people (who don't find cowboy hats, harmonicas, fiddles, droning, whining, being morose, having a limited number of notes and chords, or the mentality that is often expressed in country songs obnoxious and unappealing).
I've never understood the appeal of that "standard" man's country singing voice and the equally unappealing "standard" woman's country singing voice. There are some country singers who sound exactly like that hillbilly character Amy Poehler on Saturday Night Live plays.
I don't find the crusty old male country singer or the "wild rebel" younger country male singer appealing. I don't find the weathered and beaten country woman singer appealing at all, and I can't stand the Tom-Boy country woman singer.
I don't like plaid shirts, talk about guns and "shootin'" and "huntin'" and "drinkin'" and "boozin'" and downtrodden "Mommas" and wayward "Daddies" and coal mines and hillbilly land in the mountains. I'm also not a big fan of "square-dancin'" outfits.
Country music isn't even about who has the most perfect or most beautiful voice. Its about who can copy that funny-sounding hillbilly voice and sound like all the other country singers!
Finally, I think the Southern accent is something that should be toned down rather than played up.
Oh - AND I HATE FIDDLES!!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I don't want to offend anybody, but it was good to have been given the invitation to air my aversion to country/western music. In all sincerity and with genuine respect for others who have different tastes from mine, I have to say I just think there is too much of a cultural divide when it comes to people who have been raised in the North, may have actually "separated themselves" from what they were taught was a Southern culture as school children, and developed an aversion to some of the mentality associated with country music.
I'll admit - right here online - to have grown up with a little snobbishness that resulted from growing up in a part of the country where history, culture, and education were the focus. The founding fathers who built this country were not hillbillies, and I think its time hillbillies dumped the cowboy hats, pick-up trucks and shotguns and join the America that is more what the great thinkers in our history had in mind for American citizens.
(Wow - I guess I've been wanting to say that for a really long time.) :)

I think it is all a matter of preference. I do not like country music because it is so whinny, and my son always said, you can play the music backwards and you get your dog, your wife, your house and everything else back. I guess it is just a matter of personal taste, like all music. There must be great deal of people who do enjoy it, they have all of Nashville. God bless****

human beings do no longer like it by using fact they do no longer take excitement in it. i'm no longer a extensive fan of united states of america, yet I take excitement in it and what it has executed for the industry. all varieties of song, no rely what it particularly is, impacts different varieties of song. in spite of if it relatively is blues, jazz, metallic, or united states of america, all of them have a capacity on one yet another. now and then a rustic song isn't that undesirable, and that i will admit...I even have some united states of america cd's from the previous.

Its probably because they think it sounds simplistic and the lyrics are thought to be "cheesy".
