Write about Christmas. The largest made up holiday of the year. It was invented by the Catholic church in 63 AD, and has nothing to do with Jesus, or his birthday. Originally celebrated as the feast of Jupiter, or the solstice, the Catholic Church invented Christmas and placed it on the day of the solstice, to make it easier to gain followers, land, and thusly money. Impress your teachers, do some research, and uncover the story for yourself.

Well, I certainly would choose the month of February. Everybody wants a break in February, since it's so long between holidays. Ideas to celebrate would be a special day for Celebrating Nature, a Winter Festival day for fun, or a Family Day where no one shops, works or goes to school. Parents and children have an entire day where they do things, together. It shouldn't be too difficult to dream up ideas for any of these days.

"Pehle Din" could be the name. Meaning First Day.
It could be an Indian holiday- originated from India but taken into heart by all over the world
It would be all about hope...On New Years Day, Pehle Din would be celebrated. You would light your house all with candles and send cards/give cards to all your family and friends with a sweet personal wish to each and every one of them. You'd decorate the candles you place on your windows/make them if you had the ability to. You'd make a star shaped dessert representing hope to fufilled wishes. Everyone would get a piece of the dessert and before eating it, they'd make a wish/resolution. After dinner, family would gather round and tell the most important part of their year, the most important lesson learned, the "wish i didn't do" of their year, and the "wish for the upcoming year" and their goal. Everyone would tell stories and simply enjoy the love, hope, and wishes surrounded by them.
I don't know..JUST an idea =] Happy Holidays!

Take it from George--Festivas! Just choose a day and think of strange things that can be 'rituals' of the day. Be sure and have a creature that either appears or is involved somehow--worship...well maybe not an object of worship. Have a special greeting--like ' Tookey tookey, splada yogertsey' the you say to each other and a color of decorations. Your best bet is to choose a color that will be on clearance after some other holiday so you can get your stuff cheap--the expensive part of the holidays is the stuff to decorate with.

Where would you like to go? If someone gave you a million dollars, what would you do? Base your project on that, and make it a fun one. You can either go to somewhere exotic (China, Mongolia, Brasil) or you can say, since it's a made up holiday, that you have chosen to go back in time and pick your favorite period in history. The neat thing about that is you can declare yourself king or whatever, so you don't have to be a peasant and spend your holiday grubbing in the dirt.....

Well, alot of holidays come from these commemorations:
Victorious battles from a war
Birthdays of historical figures
Significant historical events involving the government
Religious
Calendar-related (New Year's, Boxing Day, etc)
You can pick one & impute your own imagination's work on one of the above.
Good Luck!

National Peach IceCream Day. Research peach icecreams origin, and bring some into school for some brownie points. Maybe give a recipe for making some.

hair appreciation day- everybody must put effort into their look; pet appreciation day- treat your pet like a king/queen; DDR day- must dance the day away; Day of Miracles- change a person's life in a major way
-I know they are absurd, but maybe the ideas will spark your imagination. Hope this at least helps a little.

Help the hungry children in this world by giving up all your food for one day and have it sent to those who are starving to death around the world.
