You almost never hear about Jesus anymore around the christmas holiday (except from the church ).
All you see are the ads trying to sell the hoilday to our children who learn only of recieving.
God is almost gone from CHRISTmas..

You don't have to participate in it. People have their own homes and can have things the way they like in their own homes. When it comes to gift-buying, people can choose how much to buy and whether to buy it early enough or in an organized enough way so as to allow them to kind of stay removed from much of what is "out there".

I get a little sick of hearing every television commercial being aimed at Christmas, but it isn't a big deal. When it comes to "hectic", we can all decide to do things in a way that prevents too much "hectic".

What goes on in stores or on television or anywhere else outside of our own homes doesn't have to have much impact on how we do things. We can decide to have our Christmas the way we like - complete with warmth, meaning, and elegance.

You know, for the last five years in particular we've heard so much about war and terrorism and people who want to kill us. Then there have been tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, and the usual assorted children who have been victimized and young women (and others, but young women are so often the targets) who have been brutally murdered. Then, too, there's been the never-ending parade of sex offenders of one sort or another.

I don't really mind seeing commercials about giving radiator hoses from the local auto parts place or doughtnuts or hamburgers from fast-food chains for Christmas. They're silly and not all that meaningful in view of the supposed purpose of Christmas I don't even mind the plastic, inflatable, menageries that show up on lawns and that include Winnie the Pooh or the Grinch or enough lights to light all of Iraq and North Korea at the same time.

A little gaudiness and commercialism is, I guess, a part of our Christmases too - but we don't have to let them bother us, take us in, or make us feel that the more meaningful aspects of Christmas have been lost. Besides, in today's world, its kind of a lovely (although silly, I know) luxury for people to spend the money and time putting up a giant, inflated, merry-go-round with Disney characters in it (I just saw that one yesterday at a Sears store).

Yes, I'm completely fed up with it all. It's all forced and fake.

Stores start pushing Christmas junk all the way back in October! (even before Halloween or Thanksgiving!)
The radio stations play Christmas music all too soon.
There's no snow this year.
It's too warm

My son won't be here.

Even my christmas tree looks out of place and all wrong.

I just can't get into it this year.

The second year without my sister and I just can't do it anymore without her!

I think people have become way too commercialized. The world is so concerned with getting presents, and giving presents, that everyone has lost the true essense of the holidays, i told people don't get me anything because the one gift i want only God can give. I would love the gift of getting my son back.

How could one be? It has been commercialized and hectic since the Church invented it in 63 AD at the Edict of Mycanea. It is a fake holiday, that was placed on a day of worldwide importance to all religions, and has never been about Jesus, or christianity. So get over it, I guess.

YES YES YES

gimme gimme gimme children think a zillion gifts at any $cost are an entitlement and the pressure to 'gift' so many people.

BOTTOM LINE is everyone is nutso and stressed and when they complain about whatever and you suggest the 'holidays are stressful for everyone' you get complete DENIAL. i.e. 'no, it isnt that blah blah..... its my Restless Legs Syndrome or this that....

They shall end shortly thank god.

Extremely! I don't blame everyone for it, though. I try to keep Christmas as it should be and I don't fall into the "gimmie, gimmie, gimmie" trap.
It's supposed to be the celebration of Christ's birth, not to see how many gifts, we get.

No....I'm a grown up...I buy into it as much as it works for me.

When it gets to be too much I bow out.

Kinda like turning the channel when something's on you don't want to see.
