It may help widen the cervix slightly, but it won't do anything for conception. Sperm are microscopic, they don't need a wider path to your uterus.

I heard that it does assist...as the cervix opens and closes during orgasm and can pull the sperm into the uterus.

having am orgasm only makes it easier to conceive b/c the juices are flowing, and the vibes draw the sperm up into the uterus. but that's about it.

No. It only expands briefly the vagina which has no affect on whether or not pregnancy takes place.
It is a natural phenomenon that has no purpose at all except for pleasure.
