I need information on capital punishment, or the death penalty, for speech class. It needs to be from a credible source. Any information at all would be greatly appreciated!!

The best place to look is the Death Penalty Information Center, www.deathpenaltyinfo.org. On the home page you will see a link to history of the death penalty. That is probably a good place to start. There is so much more available on this website- but I would suggest that history is the right place to begin.
This goes from the 18th century BC to the present. Look on the left side of the home page, scroll down to facts...history. I think you will find what you are looking for. The Death Penalty Information Center is very highly respected by lawyers, scholars, advocates, journalists.
