During the depression, things got cheap so factories would shorten dresses and skirts to save money on the extra material.
During World War 2, when all the men were over seas, the women started running things and got in control of things, thus the pants and shorts.

They are kind of a nusance. Getting caught in things plus it's a whole lot easier to accidently/on purpose flash people. I personally love dresses and skirts but I love pants even more :)

I prefer dresses and skirts for work. I'll usually wear jeans on the weekends.

Maybe becouse we have more of a choice with pants and shorts (they are much comfortable) and its easier just to wear those. But we still wear dresses and skirts on special occasions to keep up our tradition, i guess.

If you will start always wearing a cutaway long jacket, high necked startched ruffled shirt, and buttoned vest with a powdered wig, all the time, I will wear skirts all the time, is it a deal?

shorts are more practical at soft ball games and sports that I do/
and I feel better/ comfortable in jeans/shorts
