When a player scores a touchdown and throws the football up
in the crowd after scoring, does the team or player pay a
penalty for throwing the football into the crowd?

Under NFL rules, handing the ball to a fan is permitted, and players do that every Sunday without getting fined. But the NFL worries that throwing the ball into the stands could be a fan safety issue: Fans may run into each other while trying to catch the ball, start fighting over the ball, or even fall over a railing while reaching for a ball.

The player pays the fine if it still exists. It used to be like 1,000. Elway was fined once for giving a ball to a kid in the stands who was in a wheelchair! I think that is a ridiculous fine.

I don't think its a penalty but there may be a fine but i don't think so not to long ago i seen Corey Dillon do it and dint see a a penalty flag over it

i know you have to pay for the ball, like they can't get a new football
