If it's just a little odor, try sprinkling baking soda on your carpet to absorb the smell, and vacuum after a couple hours.
To cover up bad smells, try boiling vanilla in a pot of water on the stove. It smells nice!
You can also clean the house with lemon scented products. This leaves a clean scent and is great at masking strong odors.
If it's really bad, like animal urine or the like, you may just have to replace the carpet. If you do that, sprinkle laundry soap under the pad and carpet to prevent the smells in the subflooring from coming up into the new carpet.
Hope this helps!

You can always use air freshener or open the windows, but in order to get rid of the problem for good, you'll have to get rid of the source of the smell, like if it's a dead mouse or something.

Well, we could use more information on what & the type of smell you have. Old school method is setting out bowls of straight vinegar. But Glade Plug ins help without having the residue of scented candles or other burning stuff.

Kill what's causing the smell. Simple fresheners only cover up oders. Spay surfaces with anti-bacterial spray and use a germ-killing air spray.
Spray everything down and then open the windows, letting it naturally air out.
CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN... it's the only tried and true method.

i could surely attempt to do away with the corpse first . the terrific and least complicated answer to removing smells is slightly carbon smell absorber suggested as refrigerator-IT. It particularly does what it says it relatively is going to do. i could purchase a pair and in simple terms place it on a shelf in the closet. No chemical compounds and no stinky fragrances. This removes the odors ordinary and rapid.

well, if you get rid of whatever it is that's stinking up the house, try putting some vanilla extract in containers and place them all around. vanilla is a natural odor absorber.
Good luck!

Get rid of the Liberals and disinfect everywhere they sat. If Hillary is on TV, turn it off.
Whew, that was close. Don't open the door next time:)

what is the smell coming from??? i hope you do not have a dead body laying around, LOL! you have to know what it is... i like baking soda, it takes away practically any bad smell. another easy one is amonia, especially if you have towels that got wet and began to stink like mold.
