Well, Hemoglobin is a protein that carries Oxigen and CO2, this protein is present in the blood and it contains iron atoms which give it a red color.

The mineral in the blood that makes it red is iron. In some animals like crabs, the blood is blue because it has copper instead of iron. Pretty sweet :)

yes, and also the transport type of protein that helps carry oxygen to the body and carbon dioxide away. people who have sickle cell disease don't have enough of it, so their red blood cells form a crescent moon shape and they are white-ish, and are also hard and easily form clots. it's a genetic disorder from a small part of your genetic code. CTT becomes CAT.

the blood is actually blue until you remove it from the body and the air outside of the body is in contact with it , if you look closely at the viens in your wrist you will see that this is the true color
