the advise you received is not only right, but unless this is an open fracture, this is the only thing you can do for a broken toe. You can ice it for pain and swelling but two strips of tape is the trick. First strip just under the knuckle and the second strip under the middle joint. Try taping it to the ring toe first and if that doesn't give you enough support, go to the big toe. But do try birdie toe to the ring toe first, it will be the most comfortable. good luck and happy healing.

I broke my toe and was told the same thing. I broke the one next to my pinky toe. It hurt like hell for a few days but got better eventually. It still hurts sometime, if I walk a lot or stand on it to long,or wear highheels. All I can say is take some pain reliever and tape it up and try to stay off it as much as possible.

First, you need to have it x-rayed to make sure what you think is going on in there is going on. Next, you tape it to the toe next to it. Put cotton in between so the skin doesn't get sore. The ER will give you a shoe that's hard on the bottom and has a lot of room so it won't get squished. You won't be able to bend it with that shoe. Give it six to eight weeks. I know because my little toe just healed!

You can put a sterilized metal clamp like ones you find when you are putting up a shelf and put both your toes in it, and then just tape it up. But toes usually heal fast, and doctors wont do anything if you have a broken toe, it's basically a superficial break (Not sure if thats the term), because it can heal it's self.

See your doctor. Need an x-ray to make sure it is broken and to get it set properly. Because of the way toes break it is important to see a doctor to make sure the bones are properly aligned when they are set. But, yes, most likely they will just tape it to another toe.

Not much can be done. Ice, keep it elevated when you can and the tape will help the toe heal straight. Good Luck it will hurt for a while.

I Just broke mine recently. i went to the doctor they "set" it back in place, put some cotton between the two toes, and taped it to the other and gave me some medicine. i had to walk on crutches and wear this really ugly shoe so that my toes wouldnt be all cramped up. they also told me to keep it up and level with my heart as much as possible to keep the swelling down.

Ow! I know how you feel. There really is nothing you can do. What I would recommend is putting ice if you have any pain at all. I couldn't tape mine to another toe because it drove me nuts. Try this:

Go to your nearest walgreens or walmart store and head towards their 1st aid isle.

Look for little finger splints or tiny wrap, thats what worked for mine.

Absolutely nothing. they will buddy tape it and tell you to wear hard soled shoes for a few weeks. no more as long as it is aligned and not causing any problems other than pain.

it would be a good idea to go to the doctor just to make sure. sometimes you can crack a bone in your foot when you thin kit's your toe.
