As a veterinary technician of four years, I really disrespect your opinion that anyone who tells you to bring your dog to the vet is "just trying to get attention." Are you out of your right mind??? Anyone who would tell you to take your dog to the vet is a very sensible person, and you are a terrible pet owner if you refuse to take that advice. 24 hour animal emergency clinics DO exist and are not hard to come by. Drive to one. If it really is that much of an inconvenience for you, there's nothing to do but keep the dog from putting weight on it and taking it to the vet first thing in the morning when the vet opens. Of course, then your dog would have to endure the pain of a broken leg all night.

Most importantly, please don't try to treat it on your own. Broken legs need professional help. Do not administer any pain relief drugs because it could be fatally toxic. Leave it to the professionals, you just have to get him there.

There is NOTHING else that you can do. You have to take him to the vet immediately- this is not wanting attention, this is COMMON SENSE. If your local vet isn't open, take him to an emergency vet NOW- they're open 24 hours. Your regular vet should have an emergency vet's number on their answering service, or look in the phone book. You need to do something right away, how would you like to sit around with a broken leg?

The man who said human doctor is correct, if all else is closed to you. Do not take no for an answer, if they try to hem and haw. They can administer the proper drugs and make a temporary setting. You will have to pay very close attention to the dog until you can get to the vet.

Then drive it to somewhere where a vet is open. Where's your compassion? Would you like it if you had a broken leg and everyone said they couldn't help you 'cos the Dr's are all shut? If you are going to say your car is brocken then ask around because there are more dog lovers than, you know what, around.

well, a dog's skeleton is similar to a humans? if you know your bones, push on the part where you think it might be broken. if you feel a bump, a dent, or if your dog howels in pain, then it might be a fracture. find a piece of wood, position it to it's leg, and wrap cloth around it to keep it from moving. dont let it run around or anything.

You should keep it still, make sure it doesn't do anything to harm it's leg anymore. I don't know what else to do, just watch your dog carefully and hopefully you'll be able to get some help soon.
