You can do a search at wikipedia for Santa Ana and/or Zorro.
But Santa Ana basically was the leader of the Mexican Army.
Don Diego characteristics? Well, you have the foppish, rich guy which was his cover, then you have the courageous, freedom fighter for the people, which was his "true" side.
Basically he's latin Batman.
Elena would be like Talia. Rha's Al Gul's daughter who fell in love with Batman.

Is it possible that you could watch the movie again? That would help you, since then it would all be fresh in your mind.
I agree that the wikipedia is a good place to look for most of that. Santa Ana is a real life historical character.
Weaknesses? Elena's main weakness is probably that she jumps into situations that "feel good" without thinking of the consequences.
By the way, if this is for a school assingment, please don't plagarise. I'm sure you know what that means.
