Any thoughts on the quality/reliability of the Korean made Forenza? I need a cheap reliable car that will last a very long time without being in the repair shop frequently.

As a Suzuki auto tech I'll vouch for any of the late model Forenza's. They are solid.
Early 06's had some computer issues but most have been reprogrammed by now....no issues with 07 yet.
The SX4 is 100% Japanese, same engine thats been used for years, much more reliable and better track record.

The 2007 Suzuki Forenza is protected by a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty so you shouldn't have to worry about mechanical problems for a long while. And if it turns out to be reliable than more to ya. Also consider the Scion xA, Mitsubishi Lancer, Dodge Caliber, Ford Focus, Chevrolet Cobalt, Saturn Ion, Volkswagen Rabbit, Toyota Corolla, Mazda 3, Honda Civic, Hyundai Elantra, Subaru Impreza, Nissan Sentra and the Kia Optima.
P.S. No matter what car you buy if you take care of it regularly it will serve you well in the long run.
