Because San Jose is full of old garbage houses that will collapse. Besides there's nothing else to do for excitement, except go downtown and watch the afros beat up each other. And watch out, if the parking meter maids don't get you the 3 cops per person will. Say hello to the crook for a mayor if you see him. I could go on and on. The big glass bird cage of a city hall that the peasants will be paying for forever, the rough as a cob, backwards car race that's a loser, how they ticket jaywalkers when there is an all star game, voted worst roads in the US, it's just a lousy place. It's the sad San Francisco wannabe that will never be.

If you want to be prepared for the inevitable you must learn about earthquakes and their destructive power. This is just a fact for coastal California as it lies in one of the most active techtonic plates in the worls, the "Ring of Fire." In order to know what to expect and how to handle the consequences of an earthquake's aftermath you need to learn the safety proceedures.

So they know what to do during an earthquake. It's kind of common sense, but I guess some people aren't that educated.
