Comparisons and differences between Meiosis and Mitosis:

Mitosis: No pairing of homologs occur, it is associated with growth and asexual reproductionm, there is one division, two daughter cells are produced, the chromosome number is maintained, the daughter cells are identical to parent cell.
Meiosis: Two divisions, Four daughter cells produced, associated with sexual reproduction, chromosome number is halved, crossing over between homologous chromosomes may occur, daughter cells aren't identical to parent cell, produces gametes, synapsis occurs in prophase
Both: involve duplication of chromosomes
