Most people know that one of the charistics of BPD is telling lie's. I believe my X-wife suffers from this. Besides the HUGE anger fits, yelling screaming and causing general chaos for everyone is her lying..I mean OUTRAGOUS lie's that are easily discovered. She has accuuses my daughter of drug dealing and even being a lesbian, she has claimed that I have beat her numerous times, my question is:
Do People who suffer (as my x-wife does) from BPD know they they lie?

Most people with BPD see things in either black or white. They often view people as with or against them Lying is not a diagnostic criteria for BPD, however when under stress or feeling out of control they will try to "create their own reality". Your wife may be suffering from being psychotic or having hallucinations or she may be "causing drama" to split people into groups. She needs to be evaluated. Are you sure she was not diagnosed with Bi-Polar disorder? Good luck and hope she seeks treatment.

I've suffered BPD in the past, but lying has never been an issue, nor do I remember that being a symptom of BPD from my pysch studies in college. She has other issues in addition to BPD.

Ok,
I have been diagnosed with boderline personality, BUT on top of that I am Bi-Polar.
I do have fits- or I had fits, but now I am on medication that help my mood swings.
your wife needs a DR, a Diagnoses, so she can get the proper meds.
I have never felt better.
I even can finally sleep all night now.
that was one of the signs of being BI polar.

Sometimes they do. But, they have ambivalent relationships as you konw. they generally get things stirred up as a means and manner of coping and dealing with life. They seem to say things, "I hate you. But don't leave me."
