I have to sell one of my horses. Which one?
Ginisee-14yr. old OTTB mare. Eventer, goes Novice. Bowed her tendon in April but is getting better. Sweet undersaddle, kid broke, but is awful on the ground. 16.1hh
Uma- 4 year old 3/4 TB 1/4 Shire mare. Future Eventer, can jump about 3 foot already. Sweet on the ground, handful under saddle. 17.1hh
Murphy- 10 year old OTTB mare. Hunter/Jumper/Dressage. Can event, but will take time. Bit of a worrier but she is awesome to ride! A pistol under saddle, needs experienced rider. An absolute ANGEL on the ground. Would trust a kid w/her on the ground. 15.3hh
IM CONFUSED!! WHAT SHOULD I DO!!!!

I need to sell because
a) financial constraints
b) time constraints
I am in 9th grade so its hard for me to get out right now. Ginisee's bow is small, very very small. Alot of people say that she could still do Beginner Novice with time. Uma is a handful but a blast to ride. I'm thinking about selling Murphy because even though Gin would sell faster (trust me, ive tried to sell her before with ALOT of success), Murphy doesn't have the personality for eventing. She has fears and event horses need to be fearless like Gin and Uma. Murphy has the potential to do at least Training if not Preliminary though! I'm at Novice but moving up quick so I need a horse more like Uma!!!

It really depends on your mind frame for this.
From a "business" point of view, you can sell Uma and Murphy for a decent price, but if you put more work into them, you could sell them for more. However, keeping Ginisee, would mean footing her medical bills and the fact that she is still slightly injured, so she would be the obvious sell.
Now, if you are more interested in the horse's well being....Then unless you find people who are willing to stick through with Ginisee through her injury, then you should keep her. She would need a nice adult rider. Even though she is "kid broke" in the saddle, the kid might not be able to handle her on the ground. So unless you can find people who match that criteria, her future is looking a little bleak.
Uma, she can be sold as a prospect, and does have some sort of future ahead of her. I'm sure that there will be many people out there who are competitive in the sport would love to buy her to continue her training.
Murphy, would be good with an experienced kid. Could go children's jumper, or even eventing. Once again, this one would have a brighter future.
So these are just some things to think about. I recently had to decide, and I sold my 14 yr old QH instead of my 9 year old OTTB. My QH was a completely bombproof horse that I could get on once a month and he would be a gentleman, and he had no soundness issues. Sold him to a nice family who has their own farm. The daughter bought him for her mom, who is a complete beginner...It was a good match. I didn't want to sell my OTTB because she IS an OTTB and she takes a lot of patience and handling. She is a more complicated ride. And from her racing days, she has a bit of a shoulder problem, that is fine, as long as her feet are kept good and she gets massages every once in awhile. So unless I had found THE perfect rider for her, her future was a little more bleak.
I based my actions on what I thought was best, not by thinking about which situation would get me more $$.

I am assuming by your name that you are an eventer, so I will suggest what I would do as a fellow eventer (though lower down the scale, heh)... I would sell Ginisee. While she may be getting better, after a life on the track, and a bowed tendon, she most likely would be more comfortable and able to perform longer as a hunter or dressage horse without the high impact demands of eventing. In my view this will give you two horses to project and work with who are both physically capable of jumping, and likely to be sound and healthy longer than Ginisee.

Depends on what you want to do. If you are looking to event and do it for a few more years I would look at selliing Ginisee. She would be the best sale as she is well broke. Ground manners can be taught my most anyone. And what some people find a problem others think it is cute and like the habit.
She would be easy to sell as she is the most broke and with a bowned tendon she may not be able to be up to the pace you want to comepte at.

M'am, if I was in your position, I would sell your horse Ginisee. She sounds like shes had her run, and I would sell her to a family with kids that will take it easy on her so that she doesn't get hurt again. Even though she's getting better, there's still a chance she could do it again. You can always help her learn on the ground.

if you're looking to compete, i'd keep uma, depending on how much time u can spend w/her. She's only 4 & already jumping, so w/a little work & patience she could be great 4 u. Besides, she can be looked on as a new adventure.

it is all up to u and what u want. Is there a certain horse that u can barely keep under control? Or you just dont want to have to fight to ride any more? Why do u want to sell one in the first place?

Personally, I would sell Ginisee as you know once a tendon is bowed the horse is never the same. But if you do please do the buyer a favor a disclose the injury.

Well, personally, I'd sell Ginisee, but, I think it comes down a lot to 'gut feeling' when dealing with one's own pets

Hmmm a difficult decision. It really depends what you want from a horse.
I think I would definitely keep the 4 year old, but the others...I just dont know!;
