The green power light is on and the power switch starts the fans ok. I'm getting a regular beep pattern - one beep every 2 seconds or so. This beep pattern is not listed in the HP support BIOS beep code grid???? Anyone have an idea how to troubleshoot?
THANKS!!!

I don't beleive it is the motherboard since in my experience, the motherboard is the last thing to die.... Were there any other symptoms or funny things that happened before the computer was turned off....?

1) Can be the video card.... This will give beeps.... Since the card is integrated, you may want to pop open the case the see how much dust is in the computer... Note if you open the case, you void the warranty... So if it is under warranty call HP support...

2) Can be memory but again this is repairable... Replace the ram

3) Can be the CPU (overheated and died)...

When you power down the system and then power it back up, you can see what BIOS chip you have the system... Write this down along with the beep code pattern and check the website below:

Hope this helps...

sounds like the motherboard u need to replace it go to store buy one for your make and model and then take it to your computer repair man or best buy's geek squad or do it your self (if it's a desktop computer) if it is then all u do is disconnect everything from it and unscrew it and place the new one in it's same place and screw it back in and plug everything back in it and turn computer on and your done and u saved a little money by doing it yourself and not paying some1 to do it for u
