My boyfriend has a tendency to have SEVERE panic attacks on airplanes. His throat feels like it is constricting and he's afraid he won't be able to breathe and no one will be able to get to him to help. He totally freaks out. We almost has to get off a plane earlier this year. He does take Xanax on occasion but how much of it can you take at once to curb a possible freakout??

He truly needs to talk to his doctor. Don't take anybody else's word for it. It may not be safe. What works for one person may not work for another.

Basically he should take the amount prescribed by his doctor. The risk of addiction is lower if he stays under 5mg and takes Xanax only when he really needs it.

Depends on how much he is used to taking. Would never give more than 2 milligrams at one time. Be sure to avoid alcohol.

You take whatever amount is prescribed for you and no more. Xanax is a tranquilizer and can be dangerous if abused!

He should not take any more than what is prescribed for him. If it's not working, he needs to see his doctor, to see if he can take a different medication, that will help him more.
