I've recently noticed that I am procrastinating more and more each week, especially in homework and such. The assignments just build up and build up so much that once I do find reason to actually begin them, i'm near dispair. Does anyone have some tips for persuading myself to stop procrastinating?

You have my sympathy. I used to procrastinate a lot. I got over it by forcing myself to sit down quietly and think things through in detail before starting anything.

Yes,, um,, I'll tell you tomorrow, I promise... Just kidding. Start small, and pace yourself. After a while look back and see how much you've accomplished. I used to do it by doing the thing I hated worst and the rest was easier. Try looking at the big picture. Most of your studies will be over soon and you will never need them again. Just kidding again. Make your work your friend.. Enjoy what you do... Try to find something you like about it and focus on that. This despair you talk about is used by many students in cramming sessions. Some claim it causes both halves of the brain to perform better and keeps the material fresh in your mind. It also causes stress. Have you tried study groups?

I can help you with this. Do you have a difficult time with understanding your homework or classwork? It may be a sign that your having difficulty understanding the material.

It may also be a sign that your homework is not interesting.

Just remember to reward your study time. Don't think it as a choir. Just think it as a step that needs to be done. Reward yourself when you accomplished an assignment.

Lets just say. I am a college student studying behaviors.

Keyword is Reward reinforce yourself when you done something! Good Luck.

1) I think it's true. If you're under stress, you'll get a lot better results. That's how a lot of the important work and not so important work is done. That works best for human mind.
2) Get TODO lists... ;)
3) Maybe take up meditation or something to help set your mind. That should help.

I don't know how to stop procrastination. I was like that all through uni and found that I actually did my best work when I was under pressure to finish.

Nobody is perfect!! We all do that!

Try to get yourself into the habit of NOT doing it! Repeat it in your mind. Limit yourself to what you can & cannot do!!!
