Are you trying to burn copyrighted material like movies? If so, that is illegal if you do not own them. However......

...and I am working under the assumption that you are simply trying to make a single backup copy of your DVD collection.

Do a search for a utility called DVD Decrypter. It works every time.

First off dont use nero .That program want's you to use the high dollar dvd's. The DL stands for duel layer, and those dvd's cost about $25 for five disc. Use dvddecrypter and dvd shrink. They work together real well.Set up program to burn thru decrypter it takes the dvd-r and +r disc. Go to www.ripir4me.com Down load that program and the other programs i told you about are on the home page under downloads.Download from there it's hard to find a site now that's not closed down.Good luck.

If your trying to backup Hollywood DVD,s most have CSS
encryption, along with a few other types of protection.
Most adult DVD,s dont really have anything.
You can go to WWW.slysoft.com, and play with some programs for free for 21 days to see, if it suits you.
The anydvd program is what breaks the encryption,
and the clonedvd2, is what takes the 7-8 gig movie, and compresses, so it will fit on the 4.36 gig blank DVD.
You dont need to compress if you are going to burn to a dual-layer DVD.
