From the viewpoint of the girl in To Kill A Mockingbird, trying to avoid more abuse from her father, come up with some idea other than dragging the African American guy into court over a rape he never committed.

Use Sarcasm.
Persuade them to be mediocre.
Embrace the average.
Love your inner typical self.
Strive for the C.
Why be outstanding, when standing is good enough.
The everyday, run-of-the-mill is worth it all.
