Most of the sources I searched at claim that Zac Efron (which is a clear Jewish surname) is of Jewish descent, although he does not practice the Jewish religion.

Zac Efron is not Jewish! Earlier in the year I suspected that he was because he had a necklace on that looked like the Star of David. I was wrong. That necklace he was wearing was in honor of Paula Abdul's line, "Reach for the Stars." I later emailed his official site, run by a close friend of his who confirmed the question for me. She later put that question in the main FAQ section of his website which stated:
Is Zac Jewish?
No, Zac does not practice the Jewish Religion.
I would definitely recommend this site for all rumor confirmations that you hear about Zac if you're a fan (= Hope this cleared things up.

well, evidently, your friend is lying...he is NOT jewish...that was just a rumor. just because they are your friend, doesnt mean you have to believe everything they say.
