I like your list except for Forrest Gump, between the acting and story there is really no comparison... I'd say Shawshank is the overrated one (IMDB has it as the #1 movie of all time!!?? I know it's close but #1? Besides it's impossible for a #1 ranked movie to be underrated.) I'll say Twilight for overrated, can't think of anything else extreme at this moment... But underrated... True Romance (The cast in this movie is just pure awesomeness) Casino (Always in Goodfellas' shadow) The Warriors Rounders Road to Perdition (My #1 most underrated movie. I really have no idea why this movie isn't in more peoples favorites list... it's an incredible movie really. I don't rank many movies 10/10, but this one I do without hesitating)

Oh, there's so many. The blockbusters that get all the advertisements and sell so well at the box office are all the same, while some of the best indie movies made get no press at all. Some that are on the top of my head:
Spanish Prisoner, Chumscrubber, The Big Lebowski.

1998's 'The Mighty' based on the book 'Freak The Mighty' starring Sharon Stone, Elden Henson, Kieran Culkin, Harry Dean Stanton, James Gandolphini, Gena Rowlands and Meat Loaf. Even Sting's Theme song is excellent. Like a modern-day King Arthur.

A great movie made in the 1990's...based on a book that was a true story. It was called "84 Charing Cross Road". It starred Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft. Anne played a script reader/writer named Helene Hampf, living in NYC who struck up a life long friendship with a book seller, Frank Dole, living in London England, during WWII. They corresponded as she purchased used books from his business. They never met in person, but were extremely close. Several times she tried to get to London to meet him, but it never worked out. She sent them food parcels during the war, as some foods were scarce. Many years later, she received word that Frank passed away and Helene finally made it to London, but the cherished bookshop had closed.
Their many years of correspondence was published into a book, which was eventually made into the movie, "84 Charing Cross Road". 84 Charing Cross Road was the address of the book store.
I found it one evening at the video store a number of years ago and it was outstanding. I've seen it several times and I love it every time. I highly recommend it.
Merry Christmas!

There's so many, but some of the people have already mentioned several of the ones on my list, so I'm gonna have to say Pump Up the Volume with Christian Slater.
