True the feeding tank is small but what about if I test it first in a diffrent tank to see if it will die and if it dies how long it lasts would that be a good thing to do before I try putting it in the actual fish ank or feeding tank???Thanks for answering!!!

What do you mean by moss?
The two aquatic mosses that come to mind are java moss (which is actually a plant) http://www.tropical-aquarium-plants.co.uk/images/JavaMoss.jpg
Or moss balls, which is actually algae http://www.snailshop.co.uk/assets/images/db_images/db_moss_ball1.jpg
You can put either of those in your tank, just make sure you have a fluorescent light. They will help degrade nitrites but they won't replace weekly water changes. They do look great, though.

However... Not sure what you mean by "feeding tanks" - are you using them as feeder goldfish? Goldfish produce an awful lot of waste and would easily foul up a 1 gallon tank. Even if you're only feeding them to other fish, you're decreasing the quality by keeping them in high-ammonia tanks.

If they are small enough, you shouldn't have any issues.I don't know if you have real or plastic plants.. I have plastic plants for now anyway ( new to the hobby like I had mentioned) . If they are real plants I can see how it would make sense that you wouldn't need a filter. I just have a filter because it just keeps the water clearer at least I think so anyway. As long as your fish can move about. I'm no fish expert I am new to the hobby. I find that you get mixed answers from the internet. It's best to experiment and find what works with your betta. .Or use your own personal judgment for example if you feel it looks to crowded remove some of the plants if possible. P.S I also have a 2.5 gallon tank ;)

I dont think its a good thing to do. It wont give any benefit and will take up room in a tank which is quite small already;

will moss actually do anything? i think they would actually be bad if they die then too much bacteria gets in the water and might get the fish sick
